Sculpture black South African granite, unique specimen

Dimensions: 85 x 130 x 140 cm

Santini loves black granite and works very often with this material ¬- "it is masculine, beautiful, compact, strong" Santini was quoted on the occasion of the Triennale in Bad Ragaz 2015. The Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Western Austria region is fertile ground for Santini, both for commissioned works and for exhibitions and the inclusion of his works in important collections such as those of Michael Hilti or the First Art Foundation.

Silvio Santini was born in Carrara on 23 May 1946. In 1958 he started at the Scuola del Marmo, and from 1964 he worked for seven years in Carrara in the "Nicoli" studio, cooperating in the realisation of marble sculptures with world-famous sculptors such as Vangi, Ipousteguy, Cardenas, Muller, Roca Rey and Poncet. Together with Paolo Grassi and Mario Fruendi, he founded the "Laboratorio di Scultura" in Carrara in 1971. In the following years, his works were increasingly shown internationally, mainly in Central Europe. In 1982, he met Max Bill, a student of Kandinski, and a 15-year-long, artistically brilliant collaboration began that continues to shape Santini's work today.
