"Today, looking back on the various phases of my work, I can say that my central concern lies in the field of tension between perception and cognition. For me, art is the medium through which I gain access to reality, through which I become aware of reality and also of my own self," says Bruno Kaufmann. In his graphics, he deals in a precise way with phenomena of colour, structures, pictorial surfaces and perception.

Born in 1944 in Balzers, Liechtenstein, Bruno Kaufmann studied art in Zurich and Berlin. In 1970 he became a master student with Prof. Johannes Geccelli. He worked for many years as a freelance artist and as an advertising and industrial photographer. His artworks were shown in group exhibitions, such as at the Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence or at the Haus für konstruktive und konkrete Kunst in Zurich, as well as in solo exhibitions, such as at the Kunstraum Engländerbau Vaduz. In 1993 he founded the Kunstschule Liechtenstein, of which he was director until 2008.
