Sculpture made of glass
Mass: 34 x 26 x 10 cm
Luigi Benzoni is an artist at home in both painting and sculpture. A human face pervades all his works: in particular, the anxious and restless face of a man who seems to have lost the concept of his own being appears again and again. Over the years, Benzoni created a series of highly individual artworks by experimenting with this human face on different materials.
Luigi Benzoni was born in Bergamo, Italy, in 1956, studied art history and architecture there and has lived in Venice since 1976. He cites the Chiaristi Veneti, Virgilio Guidi and the masters of the Burano School as his early role models. Benzoni began his artistic work with oil painting and later added a dimension: glass. This resulted in paintings, vessels and sculptures with three-dimensional depth and transparency, realised in the glass studios of Murano.
