"The artist Evi Kliemand moves in the range of abstraction and materialisation" with her painting. Situated between Abstract Expressionism and Informal Art, her works are always based on a personal experience. The themes of her artistic exploration are often landscapes and life worlds, which in Kliemand's work become abstract, colourful and completely freely composed pictorial spaces.
Evi Kliemand was born in Grabs, Switzerland, in 1946 and grew up in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. After the Ecole de Commerce Geneva, she attended Mamaroneck High School New York, where, with a focus on literature and art, she began her own artistic development. From the 1960s onwards, Kliemand worked with figurative graphics, and from 1972 onwards she also devoted herself to painting and later collages. Her works were shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions. In 1986 she received the recognition award of the Cultural Advisory Council of the Princely Government of Liechtenstein, and in 2004 the Constance Art Prize. Kliemand is also active as a writer and publicist.
