Austrian digital artist and light artist Stefan Kainbacher has his roots in the international club scene and transfers sensory experiences into art.

Light and sound play a primary role in Stefan Kainbacher's works. As in the club scene, the artist combines light and sound in his installations to create synergetic, audiovisual impulses. On the one hand, a multi-sensory experience is to be made accessible to the viewer, on the other hand, this experience is opened up to those who have never had the experience of visiting a club.

The audiovisual light installation I AM WHAT placed here is a special production for the First Advisory Group. The installation is based on the installation I AM WHAT 2021, which premiered in summer 2021 at the Hofkultur Festival, Lustenau AT. The Raspberry Pi computer, programmed with an algorithm, lights up the three words I, AM and WHAT in different sequences and pronounces them simultaneously through a sound module. These three words also allow for an endless monologue in a different order, opening up a philosophical dimension.

In addition to the audiovisual synergies conceived by the artist, the soundtrack underpinning the speech is also a soundscape composed by the artist himself, which is coordinated with the visual dimension of the installation.

Stefan Kainbacher is represented with his collective neongolden at numerous national and international festivals and light shows, such as the Burning Man Festival.
Some of the artist's works are also placed on buildings, such as the HQ of Magenta in Vienna.
