At first glance, the subjects of the works by photo artist Alexander Timchenko may seem mundane. But the objects of interest to Timchenko represent not so much an "original" as an idea of it. With his photographic work, the artist always moves in a complex system of references - which wants to be discovered by the viewer.
Alexander Timchenko was born in 1965 in Starnberg, Germany. In 1995 he received the Bavarian State Sponsorship Award, and in 1997 a USA scholarship from the Bavarian State Government. The garish make-believe world of Las Vegas inspires his well-known city stagings. His photographs are regularly shown internationally, for example at the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig or the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
