Watercolour painting

Dimensions: 55 x 75 cm

During his studies in Paris, Georg Malin became acquainted with the local art scene and gained an insight into the painting of Manessier, Bazaine, Singier and Bissière. This was probably the beginning of Malin's fascination for working with colour and water, watercolour. The Gupfenbüchel belongs to a group of hills that surrounds Malin's birthplace Mauren - a place that is a recurring motif for his watercolours.

Georg Malin was born in 1926 in Mauren, Liechtenstein. He studied history, art history and philosophy in Zurich and Fribourg and has worked as a freelance artist and scholar since 1955. His archetypal, clear formal language was influenced by Brancusi, Moore and Arp. His work, which often revolves around themes of becoming and passing, includes sculptures in stone and steel, bronze-polished heads, flower forms and steles as well as drawings and watercolours. Malin's sculptures can often be seen in public spaces in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
