Georg Malin has many artistic ties to his birthplace: his sculptural works can be found in public places, Malin was involved in the restoration of the parish church - and the town itself serves Malin time and again as a motif for his watercolours. Fascinated by working with colour and water, the artist often confronts representational forms of expression with abstract pictorial creation in his paintings.
Georg Malin was born in 1926 in Mauren, Liechtenstein. He studied history, art history and philosophy in Zurich and Fribourg and has been working as a freelance artist and scientist since 1955. His archetypal, clear formal language was influenced by Brancusi, Moore and Arp. His work, which often revolves around themes of becoming and passing, includes sculptures in stone and steel as well as drawings and watercolours. Malin's sculptures can be seen in public spaces in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
