Urqu, Vuori, Gora, Fjall - it is the mountain that has taken the Swiss Romeo Vendrame's fancy. In photographic cycles, he approaches the stone giants and their magic to create an ever new, peculiar, fascinating image of them. He processes the photographic images, which he either takes himself or which already exist, using analogue photographic techniques and thus becomes a "draughtsman with light", offering a new view of the phenomenon of the mountain.
Romeo Vendrame was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1949. He first did an apprenticeship as a typesetter and worked as a musician until 1991, before then devoting himself to painting and, from 1997, to photography. His memorable works can be seen in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally. The Neue Zürcher Zeitung wrote about one of his picture series that in it he "created magical moments with brightly overlit or darkly tinted images in strangely unreal colours".
