"Where is it safe for the artist?" This is the question Thomas Huber asks in a group of works with closed content, in which he deals with spaces, places and especially the artist's place of work. The artist always places his pictures in connection with literary texts he has written himself. "Thomas Huber is one of the most profound artists in the German-speaking world. His paintings and models of urban architecture have attracted as much international attention in numerous exhibitions as his book projects," wrote the FAZ on the occasion of a show in Frankfurt in 2002.

Thomas Huber was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1955 and studied art in Basel, London and Düsseldorf. In addition to his work as an artist, Huber was also a professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Braunschweig, temporary director of the Centraal Museum Utrecht and chairman of the Deutscher Künstlerbund. He has received numerous awards for his artistic work, including the Prize for Young Swiss Art of the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft in 1993 and the Prix Meret Oppenheim in 2013.
