Robert Indermaur is considered to be a "primary rock of the Grisons art and culture scene". His works practically always have to do with people. That is no coincidence. For one senses the theatre man in the visual artist, who loves to stage people in various everyday and life situations in his own special way. Indermaur was one of the founders of the first small stage in Graubünden, the "Klibühni" in Chur, in the 1970s. In his most recent works, a stronger tendency towards the expressive can be discerned.
Robert Indermaur was born in Chur/Graubünden. After graduating from the Grisons teacher training college in 1967, he travelled with friends through Europe, Asia and Africa. A good 30 years ago he turned his favourite activity into a profession. First as an abstract, then as a figurative painter and later as a sculptor, he showed his works in over a hundred solo and many group exhibitions in Switzerland and internationally. He created sculptures and murals for public spaces and stage sets for theatre productions. Since 1983 Indermaur has lived and worked in Almens/Grund in his second studio in the neighbouring village of Paspels.
