Trees of life - Georg Malin's watercolour painting of them is as representational and at the same time metaphorical as they are themselves; here representational expression meets abstract pictorial creation. Intense colour tones and powerful forms are used and impressively convey the artist's poetic expressiveness.
Georg Malin was born in 1926 in Mauren, Liechtenstein. He studied history, art history and philosophy in Zurich and Fribourg, and has worked as a freelance artist and scientist since 1955. Brancusi's, Moore's and Arp's design solutions were formative for his archetypal, clear formal language. His work, which often revolves around themes of becoming and passing, includes sculptures in stone and steel as well as drawings and watercolours. Malin's sculptures can be seen in public spaces in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
